driving miss aimee
hilton head. the ocean. piggly wiggly. humidity. whats not to love?
the week before we left for hilton head, we were undecided if we were going or not. my father had taken a "turn for the worse" so to say, and i made the drive up to erie to see him. i was pretty worried but spending time with him helped. he seemed to be doing a little better by the end of the week, so we decided to make the drive to south carolina, knowing we could always turn around and come home if needed. thankfully, he's doing well.
we left friday night and made it to beckley before turning in for the night. after a long drive on saturday, we settled into some 90 degree heat. it took a few days to be able to really "relax" and not worry about my family, but i needed to. the house we stayed at was a 2 minute walk to the beach and just beautiful: 6 bedroom/bath, gourmet kitchen with viking appliances, pool with spa...the list goes on and on. we made it down to watch a cloudy sunrise one morning and it was so humid the lens would fog constantly.
fog:
no fog:
many days were spent walking the beach and swimming in the wonderfully warm ocean, then relaxing by the pool.
beach walking:
the last night there the family went on a sunset dolphin cruise which was actually a lot of fun, and we did see quite a few dolphins. we had a nice dinner out, where i had some very delicious seafood. there was a thunderstorm on the way home and we all got soaked, but it was still a fun end to a great vacation. i'm even sporting a post-vacation tan and freckles :)
